Access to clean cooking
This database reports on the share of population with clean cooking access, defined as a household having access to (and making primary use of) modern fuels and technologies, including natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), electricity, ethanol and biogas, or intermediate and advanced improved biomass cook stoves (ISO tier ≥ 1). Shares are provided for regions and over 100 individual countries from 2000 to 2020 in five-year increments. Also provides the total population without access and the population relying on traditional use of biomass in 2020. The main source was the World Health Organisation (WHO) Household Energy Database, which compiles national survey data on household cooking practices at urban and rural levels.
